How to approach Summary Completion
Summary Completion gives you a short summary of part of the passage with several gaps. You either fill the gaps with words from the text or choose from a box of options. Because the summary paraphrases one section, the skill is locating that section and filling the gaps in order while staying inside the word limit.

Read the whole summary first
Get the overall meaning before filling any gap, so each answer fits the flow.

Predict each missing word
Work out the part of speech and likely meaning of each gap from the words around it.

Locate the matching section
The summary covers one part of the passage. Find that part, then read it closely.

Fill the gaps in order
The summary usually follows the order of the source section, so work through it top to bottom.

If there is a word box, watch for distractors
Boxed options include extra words that do not fit. Match grammar and meaning before you commit.
Common mistakes to avoid
✗Searching the whole passage for each gap.
✓The summary maps to one section. Find that section and stay inside it.
✗Ignoring grammar when choosing from a word box.
✓The answer must fit the sentence grammatically as well as in meaning.
✗Exceeding the word limit when filling from the text.
✓Respect the stated limit exactly, just as in Sentence Completion.
