PTE Listening practice: eight formats, one play of the audio
Listening is the final part of PTE Academic — roughly 30 to 45 minutes, eight task types, audio that plays exactly once. It arrives when you are most tired, and it ends with the most valuable item in the entire exam: write from dictation.

The eight task types
Write from dictation deserves disproportionate practice time: it is heavily weighted, feeds two communicative scores, and is almost purely trainable — hold the sentence in working memory, type it, keep the grammar words (articles, plurals) that everyone drops.

It carries heavy weight and contributes to both listening and writing scores. Because it is highly trainable — memory span plus accurate typing — it offers the best marks-per-hour of practice in the whole exam.
Does the audio replay?
No, every recording plays once. Training with single-play audio is essential; replay-based practice builds habits the real exam punishes.
Which listening tasks have negative marking?
Multiple-choice-multiple-answers and highlight incorrect words. In both, wrong selections subtract within the item, so only act on what you are certain you heard.
Are these real Pearson recordings?
