The task types and what each is really testing
Repeat sentence and write from dictation (in Listening) are the classic score-movers: heavily weighted, cross-scored, and highly trainable. If your speaking score is stuck, these are usually where the marks are hiding.

Frequently asked questions
Does hesitation really hurt my speaking score?
Yes — oral fluency is a scored trait, and long pauses or restarts lower it. The fix is trained rhythm: keep speaking at an even pace even when content is imperfect. Our fluency analysis flags every hesitation.
What matters most in describe image?
Content coverage and continuous delivery. Mention the main trend, the extremes and a conclusion inside the time window. A fluent, structured 35 seconds beats a detailed answer that stalls.
How long should summarize written text be?
Exactly one sentence, 5–75 words. The scoring rewards capturing the main idea in correct, complex grammar — a well-built single sentence with connectors.
