How to approach Note Completion
Note completion appears most often in Parts 1 and 4. The notes paraphrase the recording, so you rarely hear the exact heading you see on the page. Read ahead, predict, and write what you hear.
- 1Read the notes before the audioUse the time given to read every gap and the words around it so you know what is coming.
- 2Predict the word typeDecide whether each gap needs a noun, a number, a name or a date before you hear it.
- 3Listen for the paraphraseThe notes reword the recording, so follow the meaning rather than waiting for matching words.
- 4Respect the word limitIf it says one word and a number, two words is marked wrong even when the meaning is right.
- 5Check spelling and move onWrite the answer, check it is spelled correctly, then refocus before the next gap passes.
